The Perfect Pigg is a life long dream that has come true. I have had people tell me for years that I needed to go into decorating or open up my own store, but just didn’t even think that was even a possibility. I even had a friend that named the store, at least ten years ago, and thought she was crazy! I was in education for 25 years (in some capacity or another) and loved teaching, working with children and teachers, developing curriculum and decorating classrooms! I decided to retire from education because I had lost my passion and it wasn’t fun to me anymore. I had planned on not doing anything for a year to rest, travel, and figure out exactly what it was that was my passion and what I wanted to do next.
The dream of decorating and designing really became more of
an interest. I started looking into local antique stores to open a booth back
in October but nothing was clicking. It was fine because I was holding on to that
one year goal of doing nothing. I mentioned to some friends before Christmas
that I really wanted to open a booth at an antique store. They suggested I
start doing Facebook Lives about my home and share stories of pieces that were
special to me. It took me a couple of weeks to do it because I really was
nervous and wasn’t sure where this was going. I started doing them and ended up
starting this page to share those stories and easy crafts that I used to
decorate my home.
The story takes a bit of a turn because the unexpected happened. A friend mentioned to me that a local store was closing and she thought this was the perfect place for me to start my business. Everything happened very quickly and within a couple of weeks I signed the lease of The Perfect Pigg! The Perfect Pigg is my dream come true. My hope is that it will be a place that will help you make your house a home, a place for you to find the perfect gift for your friends and family, and a place where you feel welcomed and loved. I can’t wait to meet all of you and look forward to the grand opening sometime in March!
