The Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a 2,180 mile footpath along ridgecrests and across the major valleys of the Appalachian Mountains from Katahin in Maine to Springer Mountain in northern Georgia. Together with the Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail, they form the Triple Crown of Hiking in the US. The trail is famous for its many hikers and backpackers, some of whom, called thru-hikers, attempt to hike it in its entirety in a single season. The record time for completing the trail rests at 45 days, but most thru-hikers typically take 5-7 months. Take your time and hit the trail through this scenic colorful map designed by Nate Padavick, traversing 14 states and highlighting point of interest along the way.
